Huitt-Zollars' Houston office has an excellent Water Resources, Drainage Engineer-in-Training career opportunity. Would you like to become part of a dynamic, ENR Magazine Top 150 design firm which provides engineering services for a diverse portfolio of projects for public agencies that include the US Army Corps of Engineers, TxDOT, Harris County Flood Control District, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as well as cities, counties and other agencies throughout Texas? Huitt-Zollars Inc. is seeking an experienced drainage engineer for an immediate full time opportunity in their Houston office. Preference is a graduate engineer with 2 years or more of experience. Experience in the Houston area is desired. The role will work collaboratively in a team environment providing drainage analysis, modeling, and design for public infrastructure and transportation projects.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
  1. Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models using a wide range of models, including HEC RAS & HEC HMS
  2. Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting
  3. Research jurisdictional drainage requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
  4. Produce drainage design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and Microstation with information obtained from research activities
  5. Perform data management and prepare exhibits using ArcGIS and QGIS
  6. Works as a member of a multi-discipline team
  7. Conduct site visits and documents findings
  8. Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence
  9. Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents
  10. BS degree in Civil Engineering with focus on hydraulics and hydrology
  11. EIT in the state of Texas preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas
  • Ability to present in a meeting
  • Ability to design printed and digital documents
Knowledge:
  • Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with PondPack, XPSwmm, ArcHydro, GeoRAS, GeoHMS, InfoWorks, HEC-RAS 2D, GEOPAK Drainage, CivilStorm, and Civil3D are all a
