Huitt-Zollars' Houston office has an immediate full-time Drainage Engineer opportunity.

Overview:

Would you like to become part of a dynamic, ENR Magazine Top 150 design firm which provides engineering services for a diverse portfolio of projects for public agencies that include the US Army Corps of Engineers, TxDOT, Harris County Flood Control District, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as well as cities, counties and other agencies throughout Texas. Huitt-Zollars Inc. is seeking an experienced drainage engineer for an immediate full time opportunity in their Houston office. Preference is a licensed engineer in the state of Texas with 5 years of experience. Experience in the Houston area is desired. The role will work collaboratively in a team environment providing drainage analysis modeling and design for public infrastructure and transportation projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models using a wide range of models, including HEC-RAS & HEC-HMS.
  2. Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting
  3. Research jurisdictional drainage requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings.
  4. Oversee production of drainage design and construction drawings using AutoCAD & MicroStation
  5. Perform data management and prepare exhibits using ArcGIS and QGIS.
  6. Work as a member of a multi-discipline team.
  7. Mentor EIT staff regarding hydrologic and hydraulic theory and practice
  8. Conduct site visits and document findings.
  9. Write and coordinate preparation of graphic materials for presentations and documents.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas.
  • Ability to present in a meeting.
  • Ability to mentor staff

 

Knowledge:

  • Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with PondPack, XPSwmm, ArcHydro, GeoRAS, GeoHMS, InfoWorks, HEC-RAS 2D, GEOPAK Drainage, CivilStorm, and Civil3D are all a plus.
