Contract/Freelance Project Description

This is a CONTRACT POSITION.

Your employment will be held by a third-party company of ENGIE’s choosing. Any offered contract role will not constitute an offer for nor guarantee of future employment with ENGIE.

 

Duration:

  • 12 months

 

Compensation:

  • $25-$30 hourly

 

Location:

  • Houston, Texas. This role will work nights.

 

ENGIE’s Junior Real Time Optimization Representative will support the delivery of financial results of an assigned region.  You will support the implementation of real-time dispatch strategies for optimizing a portfolio of ENGIE and third party owned generation assets.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Supports implementation of asset dispatch strategies for optimizing portfolio of generating assets
  • Under supervision of Sr. Real time Optimization Representative, submits bids and offers into ISO’s systems, ensuring timeliness and correctness
  • Maintain a continuous operation picture of fleet performance, position, and risks
  • Single point of contact with plant control room operators to respond to operational plant issues
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-the minute status and for keeping documentation of important information (unit availability, generation level, dispatch base points, generation cost, fuel inventory, market prices, etc.)
  • Understands and conveys important pass down information at each shift-change.
  • Run P&L reports as required
  • Act as a team member with all employees of ENGIE Energy Marketing North America staff
  • Comply with all ENGIE North America policies and procedures

 

What you bring:

  • Zero to three years of energy experience in Real Time Operations working on the optimizing and generating of assets or Power Plant Operations required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or related field required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and 12-hour night shifts which routinely include working some weekends and holidays.  This position will start as a rotating, nights only position
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
  • Willingness and ability to obtain PJM or NERC certification
  • Ability to learn ISO rules is required
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Adapts to working in a constantly changing environment, bidding strategies, unit commitment strategies

 

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • This position will work 12-hour day shifts and 12-hour night shifts which routinely include working some weekends and holidays.  This position will start as a rotating, nights only position
  • For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting
