Job Description

Bank of America's engineering staff is responsible for evaluating the reserves owned by oil and gas customers and for determining the proper loan asset values attributable to those reserves. The engineering tech position supports the process by working primarily with bank and client engineers to monitor loan asset performance and to prepare loan asset revisions as additional properties are added or removed from a customer's asset base.

Position coordinates the assembly of all data for engineering evaluations that support credit decisions for energy clients. Interprets data and runs specialized engineering software following the engineer's review and instructions. Analyzes and compares data against historical production and bank guidelines. Maintains customized engineering databases for specific clients and/or projects. Must be able to handle multiple projects, deliver high quality and timely results.

Specific duties under the direction of the engineer include:

  • Acquisition and evaluation of quantitative data to monitor performance of oil and gas assets
  • Data organization, manipulation, and presentation of oil and gas collateral properties for cash flow projections
  • Data input of computer databases utilizing petroleum engineering analytical software (ARIES, PHDWin)
  • Execution of engineering software (ARIES, PHDWin) to analyze data and prepare forecasts of cash flow performance
  • Extraction of engineering model cash flow projections into Excel-based credit models to assess asset performance
  • Preparation of narrative engineering reports
  • Preparation of documentation
  • Routine correspondence with BofA associates and customers related to engineering data and collateral matters
  • Preparation of internal reports related to oil and gas portfolio
  • Assembly of information for annual training presentation
  • Maintain client files - electronic
  • Adhere to credit policy and due diligence guidelines


Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with preference for at least some in-field experience
  • Aries experience is required; PHDWin experience as an additional skill is preferred.
  • Highly proficient using Microsoft Office including Access and Excel
  • Experience with bank E&P (Exploration & Production) borrowing bases preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Very limited travel possible, primarily for due diligence reviews
