Occidental is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Geo Modeler in Houston, Texas under the general direction of the Lead Geoscience, within 1PointFive Sequestration of Low Carbon Ventures. The position will support a new business within Oxy Low Carbon Ventures (LCV). The mission of the LCS group is to grow an externally focused low carbon services business utilizing Oxy's significant experience in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), subsurface expertise, and to explore other low carbon service opportunities.

The experienced advisor geologist will work the different Sequestration Hub team with primary duties of fluvio-deltaic reservoir characterization across the US gulf coast region, Petrel static modelling, and interaction with development teams and simulation teams.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Perform technical and project work as required, with particular emphasis on Petrel static modeling.

* Mentor and advise team members applying best practices to projects

* Involve additional company resources as needed (e.g. from Central Function), advocate and organize peer assists and reviews

Qualifications:

Education:

* M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Geoscience

Experience:

* Required: 10 years industry experience

Professional/Technical Knowledge:

* Required - Expert knowledge in Petrel static modeling

* Required - Experience with sandstone reservoir characterization

* Preferred - Fluvial/Alluvial sandstone characterization experience

* Preferred - Experience with conventional sandstone petrophysics

* Preferred - Experience with CO2 saline aquifer sequestration projects.

* Preferred - Experience working with RE's on dynamic simulation.
