Job Description
The Data Analytics Manager is accountable for leading a team of data scientists and engineers in developing and implementing data-driven solutions to support Chord Energy's strategic objectives. The team provides support to the broader organization with a focus on partnering with various business operations to help them implement data analytics, machine learning and automation. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strong leadership skills, the ability to connect and align with individuals and teams across the entire organization, and an understanding of the energy sector. This position is located in downtown Houston, TX and reports to the VP of Data Analytics, Innovation, PMO and Supply Chain. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions
  • Engage and collaborate in multi-disciplinary projects across the organization
  • Provide business solutions to a diverse set of problems ranging from, but not limited to, production automation/optimization, drilling and completion process optimization, back-office process improvement and automation, dashboard generation and deployment, and computer vision aided operations.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to foster growth for a team of data scientists and data engineers
  • Evaluates, prioritizes and presents data analytics solutions for approval with key stakeholders including business leaders, managers, and engineering/technology leaders and collaborates with them to develop strategic roadmaps
  • Actively participates in the implementation of approved data analytics solutions and tracks cost savings and business impact
  • Deploys company-wide campaigns to promote data analytics as well as training and upskilling individuals across the organization
  • Stays engaged with emerging data analytics solutions and shares information across the organization
  • Coordinates Chord participation and attendance at relevant conferences

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's or bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, engineering or related field
  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years of relevant experience in engineering or data science
  • Established leadership experience with preferably three plus (3+) years directly managing teams and projects
  • Strong technical skills in data analytics, machine learning, big data technologies and/or experience leading teams in this area
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Julia or other data science languages and/or experience leading teams in this area
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with a variety of stakeholders on business-critical projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) across all levels of the organization
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with five plus (5+) years directly managing teams
  • Exposure to the energy industry
  • Exposure to petroleum engineering, machine learning, and data science concepts
  • High level of business/ financial acumen
  • Intimate knowledge of technology used in business processes
