About the Position

FIS Trading and Asset Services is seeking a hands-on Development Manager with strong skills to join our Virtus development team, working on the next generation of portfolio management product offerings. In this role, you will thrive by being a team-oriented player in a highly collaborative environment using agile development processes. You must also be a self-starter who is always open to optimizing existing development practices through new technologies, patterns, and processes.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Coach and mentor a team of software engineers to have a positive impact on product development and chart a fulfilling career path.
  • Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, product managers and senior leadership.
  • Participate in the agile (Scrum) process throughout the SDLC to engineer solutions to meet the business needs of our customers.
  • Design and develop new software or make modifications to existing complex software applications using disciplined processes, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Take part in reviews of work, e.g. design and code reviews, and demonstrate software to all stakeholders.
  • Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to other team members within areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to owning and delivering processes that drive engineering quality and meet our engineering SLAs.
  • Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operations.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer/information sciences, mathematics, or equivalent field, as well as 10 years' related work experience.
  • Typically, at least 3 years of hands-on engineering management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Object Orient Patterns and Design, data structures and algorithms, parallel and distributed computing, SoA and multi-tier architectures.
  • Experience with modern application architecture and cloud native development (Azure preferred).
  • Significant development experience throughout the SDLC using Microsoft .Net/C#.
  • Working knowledge of web UI development (e.g., HTML5, REACT/Angular).
  • Solid experience with relational database development, including logical design, stored procedures, functions, triggers and performance tuning
  • Demonstrated expertise performance tuning applications from top to bottom; including profiling of applications, telemetry and observability.
  • Strong logical and analytical skills, with the ability to creatively troubleshoot and resolve challenging problems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to effectively express ideas, engage in complex discussions and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues.
  • Proactive, delivery-oriented team player who takes responsibility for the team's success.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning and applying financial concepts.

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Experience in the banking or financial services industries with knowledge of financial instruments.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Conversant experience with reporting and BI tools (Power BI preferred).
  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Model-Driven Development.

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $127,440.00 - $214,100.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
