The Senior Governmental Relationship Manager assists the Vice President Market Development as the face of the Company at the state and local level. The Senior Manager represents the company's interests and image as it interfaces with all levels of state government. The selected candidate will be responsible for interfacing with communities to help them achieve their broadband goals. Additionally, the Senior Manager monitors and interacts with state broadband agencies, in order to advocate for the Company in furtherance of the expansion of broadband. The Senior Manager also represents the Company's interests before the Governor's cabinet and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Meets with communities in the assigned region to help them understand Consolidated's role in the community and the facilities and services that exist or that Consolidated has plans to deploy.
  • Monitors state broadband agencies in the assigned territory and advocate for the Company in all areas of broadband expansion.
  • Educates communities, legislators and other key officials on Consolidated and Consolidated's expansion plans in the assigned territory and works with communities to explore potential public private partnerships.
  • Monitors each legislative session to determine which bills are relevant to the company's interest.
  • Identifies and establishes agreements with communities to work with the Company on improving broadband in the region.
  • Drafts and deliver testimony on behalf of the company.
  • Establishes a company presence at the local level within the assigned territory..
  • Establishes, develops and maintains a positive working relationship with legislative leadership, members of pertinent standing committees, other legislators of note, members of the Governor's cabinet and staff, and relevant business and professional associations.
  • Participates on boards and committees where appropriate to advance the Company's interest throughout the session.
  • Supervises outside lobbyists.
  • Contributes to departmental activities and programs by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 6-10 years of related government affairs or relevant telecommunications experience required.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills in interacting with coworkers, policy makers, legislators, and others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to produce high quality results under a variety of conditions and circumstances.
  • Knowledge of current regulations, codes, and statutes, as well as a solid understanding of the process to lobby for new rules, laws, and statutes.
  • Decision making, risk-taking, delegation, and time management skills to make independent decisions, move issues forward, and represent the best interest of the company.
