Job Description

Primary Purpose

Provides leadership, innovation, governance, and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company's key and emerging risks. Assesses, designs, implements enhancements to and manages the enterprise risk management (ERM) program framework through the development and implementation of risk governance policies and procedures; risk tolerance guidelines; enterprise risk assessment; consolidated risk reporting to management committee and Board; and required training. Provides leadership, oversight and development opportunities to the Risk team; supports the success and career growth of the all team members. Ensures risk management is incorporated into leadership standards and corporate values. Manages the collaboration with various areas of the organization to identify areas of opportunity and promote enhancement of risk management culture.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promotes and develops risk management as a core discipline across the enterprise, integrated into all key decisions and daily activities to support the achievement of strategic objectives, reduce performance volatility, and enhance SI's reputation with key stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership, oversight and development opportunities to the Risk team.
  • Works with SI stakeholders to assess and report on the status of SI top risks leveraging risk metrics.
  • Works closely with other teams, including compliance team, for wholistic risk picture.
  • Provides guidance on risk management to employees at all levels and participates in assurance process under the capital value process (CVP).
  • Prepares materials for quarterly Enterprise Risk Committee and subcommittees.
  • Develops and implements communication and training programs to improve the company's risk management. Performs other related assignments as needed.
  • Maintains familiarity with industry current events in order to anticipate potential emerging risks to the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Legal or business-related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • 8 years of prior related experience required.
  • 5 years in a comparable level role leading the risk and cash management functions within the energy industry with a proven track record in a risk management, compliance or assurance/audit role required.
  • Prior team management experience to include recruitment, development and leading a high performance team required.
  • 5 years of quantitative risk analysis preferred.

  • Ability to manage company-wide programs, such as enterprise risk management program and work in a collaborative way with the company management team.
  • Demonstrated good judgment.
  • Knowledge of key risk management models and processes, i.e., Enterprise Risk Management (risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, contingency planning); ERM frameworks, Key Risk Indicators, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Scenario Analysis.
  • Ability to implement and/or maintain a governance risk and control (GRC) tool.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced team environment and to adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to manage details while maintaining a strategic view.
  • Organization, problem solving and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff within a multicultural community.
  • Ability to dive in and learn new topics.
  • Ability to use productivity software like Microsoft Office suite and Power BI or similar reporting tools.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification in enterprise risk management preferred.
  • Certification in quantitative risk management preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish both written and verbal - desirable.

HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week onsite.
