The Project Manager Construction Purchasing, National Accounts will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key vendors. This professional is responsible for overseeing the overall purchasing needs of the Construction and Design department, ensuring that all materials are ordered and purchased for the success of every project. They will work in collaboration with Procurement to run and manage RFP's and will work in conjunction with Legal for contract execution. The National Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact between the company and its national vendors, working to secure material and service needs, aligning products or services to meet those needs, and driving project success through effective account management.

Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required.

Work Experiences:

  • 5+ years of related work experience preferred.
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge of construction, design, merchandising, store fixtures.
  • Previous management experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels both internally and externally.
  • Advanced organizational skills required to mitigate risk and meet multiple deadlines in frequently changing the environment.
  • Expertise in conducting supplier negotiations when necessary.
  • Ability to analyze, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts to make effective business decisions.
  • Responds positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problems.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic category goals.
  • Lead with integrity and able to propel a team toward the completion of goals within both a traditional and matrix environment.
  • Ability to measure Key Performance Indicators, analyze results, formulate and implement corrective action plans.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills preferred.
  • Proficiency with order systems such as PeopleSoft and Oracle.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a group of vendors that provide goods and services to Academy Sports + Outdoors and ensure great customer service is being provided at fair market value.
  • Meet with team leads on a regular basis, identify needs for the department, and conduct research to provided solutions.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors on pricing, payment terms, and any other conditions to benefit Academy.
  • Establish KPI and measure vendor performance and implement ways on how to improve them.
  • Have a vast knowledge of purchasing and vendor management.
  • Manage inventory levels and safety stock from the vendors they are responsible for and ensure we have enough inventory for yearly needs based on project counts and project projections.
  • Ensure on time delivery for every project and ensure no back orders or delays occur.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments, such as Procurement to run bids and with Legal to execute contracts.
  • Ability to read and create contracts with ability to work with Legal department to ensure all vendors are contractually compliant based on Academy standards.
  • Manage budgets to ensure we stay on track for each project.
  • Run and attend meetings as needed to provide business updates and business presentations.
  • Communicate to internal and external parties as needed.

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Regular attendance in the office is required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours such as evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Travel required, as per project needs and directed by manager.
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.
