OVERVIEW: A Senior Consultant within the Contractor Default practice works with Surety, Subcontractor Default and other Complex Construction Claims and Disputes. Responsibilities include performing various methods of forensic analysis on construction projects and various cost and quantum related analysis on construction claims and disputes for insurance carriers, law firms, owners, developers and contractors around the world.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform forensic assignments within the Contractor Default practice while working with Surety, Subcontractor Default, and other Complex Construction Claims and Disputes based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the Client in advance of performing the work.
  • Perform forensic analysis on construction projects and produce written forensic reports detailing the findings.
  • Perform cost and quantum-related analysis on construction claims and disputes for insurance carriers, law firms, owners, developers, and contractors and produce written forensic reports, graphics and data models detailing the findings.
  • Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other support team members to produce client reports in a timely manner.
  • May be required to supervise and/or evaluate the performance of associate team members and serve as a team leader or project manager.
  • Be comfortable initiating, developing, and maintaining mutually beneficial client relationships.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or construction management
  • 1-3 years of experience performing forensic claims and cost analysis work
  • Construction Management and Engineering experience required with a minimum of 4-8 years of construction experience
  • Experience in the analysis of construction claim damages
  • Proficiency in P3 and P6 scheduling software, experience with SureTrak, MS Project and Asta is a plus
  • Experience with estimating software is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as PowerBI, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • The employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Outlook, Word, BlueBeam, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of construction systems including structural, mechanical, electrical for commercial, retail, healthcare, and high-rise residential buildings.
  • Experience coordinating with disciplines internally as well as externally with consultants /architects.
  • Experience conducting and attending construction sites, as well as preparing site reports.

The Salary Range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, and TRAVEL:

Physical Demands - Basic:

Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client's office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime - This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.

Travel Requirements - This position requires up to 25% travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
