We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Geophysicist (Resident) within our Subsurface Innovation Imaging Team.

The Oxy Subsurface Innovation Residency is a two (2) year program for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Geoscience professionals interested in acquiring hands-on research and business experience in the Oil & Gas industry. You will work a remote schedule that requires business travel to Houston three (3) fixed days each month for in-person collaboration, training, and team meetings.

Residents located in Houston will work the Balanced Workplace Program (BWP) schedule with three in-office days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two at-home days (Monday and Friday). The program does not impact the 9/80 work schedule.

Residents located in the US but outside of Houston, Texas, and Denver, Colorado will work a remote schedule that requires business travel to Houston three (3) fixed days a month for in-person collaboration, training, and team meetings.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and implement advanced seismic imaging algorithms using HPC.
* Experience in analyzing and processing offshore seismic data from Gulf of Mexico.
* Experience in advanced seismic imaging algorithms including RTM, LSRTM, and FWI.
* Experience in numerical PDEs and optimization.
* Experience in coding (Python, C/C++) with parallel computing frameworks (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA).
* Creative thinker with a desire to challenge the status quo and conventional thinking with the ability to implement new ideas, processes, and technologies.
* Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present work product, technical information, and evaluations in an effective manner, both verbally and in written format

Qualifications

Qualifications:
* Master's or PhD degree in Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required
* Proven experience in seismic data processing and imaging.
* Strong coding background in HPC environments, including experience with parallel programming and optimization.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Additional Desired Qualifications:
* Experience with AWS cloud computing platform and services.
* Knowledge of machine learning and its applications in geophysics.
