This position reports to the Indirect Tax Manager and will support Bristow's indirect tax requirements for sales and use tax, VAT/GST, excise tax and property tax.
Support the sales and use tax compliance function, including:
Analyze data to determine proper taxability of sales and use tax
Prepare monthly sales tax returns
Provide assistance and support to management regarding tax examinations utilizing internal and external resources, including timely addressing tax notices and inquiries
Reconcile sales tax payable account and process journal entries for accounting department on a monthly basis
Maintain tax records (exemption certificates, state registrations, tax permits and licenses, etc.)
Coordinate and communicate with members of tax and accounting departments and system personnel.
Update and distribute monthly reports and tax rate changes
Support the excise tax compliance function, including:
Prepare monthly excise tax deposits and account reconciliations in SAP
Prepare quarterly excise tax returns including fuels tax refunds
Provide assistance and support to management regarding tax examinations utilizing internal and external resources, including timely addressing tax notices and inquiries
Prepare quarterly accruals and reconcile excise tax liability account
Maintain tax records and perform monthly reconciliations of deposits vs actual billings.
Coordinate and communicate with members of tax and accounting departments and system personnel.
Project excise tax expense for future periods.
Support the outsourced property tax compliance function, including:
Work closely with outside consultants to manage company-wide U.S. property taxes.
Review property tax renditions prepared by outside consultants
Provide assistance and support to management regarding tax examinations utilizing internal and external resources, including timely addressing tax notices and inquiries
Perform company property site inspections as needed in Texas and Louisiana.
Prepare monthly accruals and reconcile property tax liability accounts.
Project property tax expense for future periods.
Support other indirect tax functions, including:
Provide assistance with form 1042 withholding tax process and compliance
Provide assistance with 1099 Vendor set up process and compliance
Other indirect or direct tax functions, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA preferred
8+ years indirect tax experience in industry/accounting firm
Fluent with Excel, tax provision and compliance software packages
Understanding of SAP is a plus
Travel Requirements: 10% (TX, LA)
