Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Marketing Financial Analysis Accountant based in Houston, TX.


This position is responsible for:

  • Maintaining marketing/midstream segment financial models for crude oil, natural gas, power, and/or NGLs
  • System uploads of yearly budgets, monthly forecast updates, prices, and other key business drivers
  • Reviewing income statement and performing analysis on profit and loss / PnL business drivers
  • Reviewing segment cash flow and performing analysis of working capital changes
  • Reviewing balance sheet activity of marketing activity (line-fill, inventory, imbalances, prepaids, etc.) for financial statement impact
  • Detailed variance analysis of multiple scenarios (actuals vs outlook, current month vs prior month, Quarter over Quarter, Year over Year)
  • Documentation of results with complete and concise written explanations for management review
  • Using/creating formulas and automation processes to efficiently aggregate data from trading system, accounting actuals, SAP, and other internal systems into meaningful information
  • Review key terms in marketing contracts to understand the financial impact
  • Create process efficiencies; eliminate manual processes whenever possible
  • Identifying and rectifying improper financial statement activity by liaison with accounting
  • Assisting with internal and external audit and tax requests
  • Recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations
  • Ad hoc reports and special assignments as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related degree with a minimum 15 accounting credit hours
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Previous financial statement analysis experience and written variance explanations
  • 5+ years oil and gas industry accounting experience in marketing/midstream accounting or related department(s)
  • Strong communication skills with peers and management
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and within a larger team
  • Experience using a trading system and/or detailed exposure to oil and gas trading departments
  • Continuous drive to identify and implement process improvements
  • Technologically adept with advanced excel and pivot table skills
  • Overtime as needed during monthly closing

Desired Qualification:

  • Midstream experience / background in Crude, Gas and/or NGLs a plus
  • Allegro 8 experience a plus
  • FP&A experience and/or exposure to budgeting/forecasting process a plus, preferably in oil and gas
  • Experience with Access databases/SQL a plus
  • Creation of financial modeling/valuation experience a plus
  • CPA a plus
