As a Staff Process Engineer you are responsible for designing & implementing new manufacturing processes, and improving and supporting existing processes used in the formulation and filling of diagnostic assays of high medical value. You oversee design, implementation and support of manufacturing processes used in the assembly and kitting of consumables used in a laboratory environment. You partner with the Validations, Maintenance and Operations team to ensure the manufacturing process is robust and has the capability and capacity to meet the needs of our patients and customers.

The Opportunity

  • You utilize your expertise to improve the quality and performance of an assigned production area. You drive process capability, quality, cost improvements and implement solutions to improve yield and throughput in a high mix high volume environment

  • You embed project management tools in standard work practices to define and monitor project timelines, ensuring timely achievement of overall project goals and establish priorities that are in line with the overall business needs. You effectively communicate all project timelines, risks and support needed to align all functions to achieve desired project goals. You prepare and present data to cross functional teams.

  • You quickly troubleshoot process issues and provide technical support to ensure production equipment is available to have maximum machine uptime, and implement robust solutions to prevent issue reoccurance. This includes writing and defining URS, FS, DS, SOW for new projects, and leading DOE's to ensure project viability.

  • You partner with operations counterparts and apply DMAIC principles to solve manufacturing process issues including conducting process characterizations and application of SPC where it is beneficial.

  • You are responsible for leading RCA and the implementation of solutions for NCR, CAPA and Audits closure on manufacturing process related issues in your assigned production area.

  • You assist in designing and implementing new equipment and tools to improve manufacturing efficiencies, reduce ergonomic stress, and improve quality. This includes establishing and maintaining process maps, value stream maps, manufacturing work instructions and pFMEAs in your assigned area

  • You mentor, coach and lead shop floor associates and process engineers.

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline plus 12 years of experience required. OR, Master's Degree in directly related discipline plus 8 years of related experience. OR, PhD in directly related discipline plus 6 years of related experience

Preferred

  • You are Lean Six Sigma certified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • You have expert knowledge and application of engineering principles and concepts.

  • You have experience in reagent or instrument manufacturing for a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical company with knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations (QSRs).

  • You have experience designing and implementing new equipment, tools, and processes to improve manufacturing efficiencies, reduce ergonomic stress, and improve quality.

  • You can lead highly complex automated equipment development projects in collaboration with machine builders and integrators.

  • You have expert knowledge of PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff) preferred.

  • You have knowledge of Cognex vision system programming preferred.

Locations

This is an on-site position in Tucson, Arizona.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson is $86,200 to $160,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
