HVAC Journeyman - South Campus
FUNCTION: Performs a variety of tasks related to service and repairs of all heating and air conditioning systems. Details of work include installing, repairing and servicing industrial commercial / residential environmental control systems. Utilizes power tools and hand tools when applicable.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs HVAC installation, repair and maintenance as needed.
- Performs preventive maintenance work as required and in the priority directed.
- Check and test control circuits; check and test pneumatic control systems.
- Diagnose HVAC problems and remove, repair and replace faulty parts.
- Respond to hot and cold calls, diagnose problems and make adjustments or repairs as necessary
- Performs equipment inspections, lubricates bearings on fans motors and control units as needed.
- Respond to hot and cold calls, diagnose problems and make adjustments or repairs as necessary.
- Be available for emergency after-hour work or to complete on-going projects, and be willing to respond to calls any time during a 24-hour period
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Functions:
- Communication via e-mail in a timely manner
- Communication via phone calls in a timely manner.
- Direct observation of campus facilities walking, climbing, crawling required to observe condition.
- Observe and report equipment issues.
- Investigate all water leak issues within the building to determine the cause.
- Support and adhere to the College Safety Program
- Maintains quality standards as set by the district
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of heating and cooling systems
- Working knowledge of hand tools and mechanical aptitude
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience:
- At least five (5) years' experience in HVAC maintenance.
Preferred Experience:
- At least five (5) years' experience in hot water and chilled water systems or with two (2) years' experience in / or with related trades such as plumbing and electrical.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Driver's License and a CFC refrigerant re-claimant certification type 1 and 2 with a universal certification within one (1) year.
Salary Grade: 110
