Community Outreach to Veterans

We are dedicated to improving the lives of our veterans and communities by creating an environment of hope and unity through grassroots involvement, hard work and honest answers. We all owe a debt of gratitude to those that serve. It’s our goal, vision and mission to ensure we serve as the focal point for Heroes and families and act as a conduit for helping agencies that support our Heroes from all generations.

The purpose of Texas Chapter Paralyzed Veterans of America (Texas PVA) is to help our members and their families, veterans, and all people with disabilities with accessibility issues, civil rights, VA benefits, transportation issues, and new laws to enhance the lives of people with disabilities. Texas PVA also advocates for veterans and individuals suffering from spinal cord injury or disease in order to assist them in integrating into mainstream society and to open avenues towards living life to its fullest.

The U.S. VETS Houston Employment Center for Veterans provides career assessment, resume writing and interviewing skills, computer access, fax and copy machines, a phone bank, math and literacy skills building, typing and computer tutorials, a job developer, and job coaching. The Employement Center also provides job referrals and conducts mini job fairs throughout the year. In addition, the Houston VA's Healthcare for Homeless Veterans Program provides mental health assessments, medical screenings, substance counseling, and information and referrals to community support programs.
